For this recipe, I will be making a buffalo chicken dip. I will be using a crockpot recipe to explore the methods of cooking and for those who only have a little time in the mornings before work or before school to prepare their dinner for later that evening.
This is often eaten as a dip but when I make it for friends they like to put it in tortillas with toppings.
For this recipe you will need:
2-3 chicken breasts
2 blocks of cream cheese
A cup of shredded cheese (I use cheddar most often)
Buffalo or hot sauce
Ranch seasoning
Garlic powder
Onion powder
First you will put your chicken, cream cheese, shredded cheese, seasonings and sauce into a crockpot. You can cook this on low for 5-6 hours or high for 3-4.
I typically will do this recipe for the maximum suggested time to allow for the chicken to shred much easier. This will also indicate to you that the chicken has thoroughly cooked through it and it easily falls apart when picked up or shredded. I will use two forks to shred my chicken but I have seen it done many different ways, even with hand-held devices that help to speed along the process.
You can either shred your chicken in the crockpot or remove the chicken and shred separately.
Once the chicken is completely shredded, place back into the crockpot and stir together all of your ingredients. I tend to add more hot sauce to my dip and this is where I would happen to do so. I also see a lot of people add a layer of cheese during this step for a cheese crust to form on top.
You can now place your crockpot on the warm setting and leave it out for anyone to come and go.
This recipe is one that is very hands-off for those who are newer to cooking and dinner recipes. I also like to do this recipe when I have a large group of people to cook for and my attention is needed elsewhere with other dishes or prepping for hosting.
This recipe is perfect for Superbowl Sunday, get-togethers, birthday parties and any other social events. It also always receives good feedback from my guests and I am often asked to make it for these events.
Pictured below is one of my friends enjoy his dip on his own (he often asks for me to make this recipe when I host dinners).
